Some pics from my 3800 mile trip to the Amalfi coast in Italy. The CEO and myself set out to have a ride down to the Amalfi coast and take in a few countries on the way down. Through England, channel tunnel, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, lots of Italy and back through Switzerland and France. We could avoid most of the shit weather as we do not book hotels in advance and just chance it. Checking the forecast each day meant we could head for warmer areas. Europe has just had some of the worst rain ever but we managed dodge most of it. Only a couple of soakings but the 30+ degC soon dried us out.

Back roads of the Black forest Germany.

The incredible Austrian Alps

Couldn't pass the Ferrari museum in Marranelo - just across the road from the factory.

Stunning collection.

Hilltop town of Assisi - hometown of a famous dude called Francis

Incredible Amalfi coast.

View from Amalfi hotel.

Our hotel room ceiling.

Beer and sea view.

The excavated ruins of Herculaneum - like Pompei but with colour and proper bones.

Managed to find some good roads.

Stunning scenery near San Morino

Artwork in the Basillica at Urbino.

View from San Morino town.

Lake Garda hotel.

Driving in Italy was good fun but the Italians have a different way of driving. They were some of the most helpful and nice people we had ever met....... until they get behind the wheel of a car. Indicators are now extinct and the use of a mobile phone while driving must now be part of the driving test. As for the 3 lanes on the autostrada, the first is for trucks and mopeds !!! the middle lane is for mobile phone users - this allows them a bit of room either side when they are texting or get into deep conversation. The fast lane is for more advanced mobile users who think they have a Tesla car with auto pilot.
Riding in cities is only recommended if you have a good care plan in place for your kids futures. Both sides of the road is available whichever way you are travelling and a two lane road can be converted to a three lane as and when you wish. The horn is only used every two seconds and second gear is compulsory for their whole journey.
The food was excellent, as was the service where ever we visited - apart from the hotel on Lake Garda who refused to cook after nine as the football was on - fair enough, Italy was playing - but the local fish restaurant was incredible. The people were great, the scenery spectacular but the roads were shit. Amazing that they make the most amazing sports cars but have the worst roads to drive on.
Our return home through Switzerland was incredible. With the amount of rain that had fallen in the past few days there gave us a great
view of hundreds of waterfalls spewing off the mountains.
Fantastic country.
